Interculturality in the fight against racism in Colombia: scope and limitations

Eduardo Restrepo

Universidad Católica de Temuco. Chile

The experiences and advances of educational or public policy proposals based on critical interculturality have been relevant insofar as they stress and seek to go beyond state conceptions and actions limited to the turn to multiculturalism or functional interculturality (Cfr. Edwin Cruz, Gunther Dietz, Catherine Walsh). Nevertheless, as strategies for anti-racist struggles they require that their less elaborated versions be deepened and questioned. From the contributions of Afro-Colombian studies, this conference will examine the scope and limitations of the discourses and practices in the name of interculturality that circulate in Colombia for the challenges posed by the struggles against racism in the country.
